Amir Khan set to land dream bout

English boxer Amir Khan will be landing his much awaited fight against Pound for Pound boxing king Floyd Mayweather Jr. at Las Vegas in what will be the richest fight in history to involve a British boxer.

It is expected that the announcement for the fight will be officially made in the next few days and according to several English newspapers, the fight will be scheduled for the 3rd of May next year at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The papers also estimate that the much awaited fight between the two will break all previous records and reach a staggering $ 200 million and the media on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean mention that Khan’s share from that massive pot will be a mere $ 6 million. However, it is expected to be doubled with television deals from both sides of the Atlantic coming together to boost his share of the finances quite a bit.

Khan has already cancelled his upcoming fight against Devon Alexander, the Welterweight champion of the world which had been scheduled for the 7th of December in New York and according to several sources (including Unibet), the reason for his decision was to ensure that he remained fit and healthy for that mega jackpot fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr., who currently holds the World Boxing Council or the WBC Welterweight Championship.

Boxing experts believe the smaller Khan will have a slight advantage over the American with his speed poised to test the undefeated boxer who has only fought boxers who are a lot bigger and stronger previously.

Stephen Espinosa, Showtime TV’s head of sport stated that Floyd has seen off fighters who are tough and heavy punchers but what he does against the speed and agility of Amir Khan remains to be seen.
